Jo Loves… Spring 2026 🌸 At Beauty Bible HQ, Jo’s latest discoveries are bringing a fresh glow to the new season - from a skin-quenching mask and a heatproof eyeliner to a rediscovered hair hero, the perfect neutral eye palette and the most divine candle. First up: @gatineau_skincare Collagene Expert Plumping Revival Mask - exactly the skin drink needed after months of central heating. Used as a 10-minute quick fix or left on overnight, it sinks in beautifully, leaving skin plumped, smooth and far less tight by morning. The subtle floral scent makes the whole ritual feel extra indulgent. For eyes, Jo took @stilacosmetics Stay All Day Smudge & Set Waterproof Gel Eye Liner on a January break - and it passed the holiday test with flying colours. Dense, buildable colour glides on smoothly, can be smudged before setting, and then stays put through heat and swimming. Bonus points for the slimline twist-up pencil that never needs sharpening. Meanwhile, an old favourite has made a triumphant return: @johnfriedauk Frizz Ease Dream Curls Curl Reviver Mousse. Recommended again by Jo’s long-time hairdresser Eugene Smith, it tames stubborn, multi-directional hair without crunchiness, adds shine and offers serious hold - all for under a tenner. Eyeshadow-wise, Jo has finally found a worthy successor to her long-finished @tomford neutrals palette thanks to @viseartofficial Eyeshadow Palettes. With beautiful taupes, rich chocolate browns and soft shimmers, they deliver excellent colour payoff while blending seamlessly - the dream combination. And finally… the candle of dreams. @matierepremiereparfums Encens Oman Candle, discovered in the brand’s Covent Garden flagship, fills the room with the most exquisite incense scent. Honestly, a first. But when a bumper fun pack from @nailsinc of fab spring shades lands on the desk… well, it’s honestly easier to resist a bag of sweets. Especially when they don’t need the faff of a base coat OR a top coat, but just paint straight onto a naked nail. And especially when it happened to be International Women’s Day/Week/Month/whatever, and looking that bit more pulled-together is really the order of the day 💖 The pic above doesn’t really do justice to the shimmery shades. The banana yellow, pale blue and soft pinky-coral are solid colours, but the rest are shot through with gleam and glimmer, shimmer and glow – and are just so flattering, having the same effect on hands as pearls do near the face. While the Met Office insists we’re “currently out of pollen season”, the University of Worcester Pollen Forecast is already reporting tree pollen counts as high. Weeks of rain followed by sudden warmth have triggered a spike - and it’s not just birch. Alder, hazel, poplar, cypress, elm and yew are all in the mix, setting off sneezing, wheezing, itchy eyes and the full misery of allergic rhinitis. Around a quarter of us react to tree pollen alone, and city dwellers know all about the impact of plane trees, not to mention grasses, weeds and those luminous yellow rape fields in the countryside. So what’s helping? Sarah shares practical NHS do’s and don’ts, plus advice from pharmacist Shabir Daya, who recommends Aller-DMG to help regulate histamine levels and calm the immune response. The podcast recently re-aired this couple of episodes – and we were so happy to catch them, this time round. The interviewee over these two podcasts – The Red Menace: How Lipstick Changed the Face of American History – was beauty historian Ilise S. Carter, who reveals how a single swipe of lipstick was more than mere glamour, down the years, fuelling protest, embodying patriotism and more. The focus is America, but many of the stories played out on this side of the pond, too, and Ilise traces lipstick’s tale, leading us from suffragettes to wartime morale and Hollywood myth-making.. Altogether, it’s fascinating stuff (and if anyone ever dares to suggest to you that make-up is frivolous, point them in the direction of these two episodes, which are brainy, witty just so impressively well-researched.) Enjoy a Central London sniffathon – but blink, and you’ll miss it! ⌛️🏃‍♀️ We spent a fascinating and enjoyable couple of hours this week exploring the International Maisons of Fine Fragrance, which is in residence at Frieze on London’s Cork Street tomorrow (you’ll have to be quick if you want to visit!) for you to try 💖 Wish we could have given you more notice of this fab fragrance pop-up show in London’s Mayfair but we had to see (and sniff it!) first. Curated by luxury world dynamo @valeriekaminovilbc who we’ve known and respected literally for decades, there are some truly fabulous brands here, many of which were new to us – and brands are retailing or taking orders if you fall for something. It’s a slightly unusual mix of trade and public show, and you do pay to access – but walking the show with perfume writer colleagues we were rather wowed 🤩 Entry for the public is £36 for access from 2 – 6 p.m, and that does also secure you a goodie bag. (Can’t tell you what it contains or comment on whether that’s value for money, but for a true perfumista, that’s probably not relevant.) @sisology_official - Korean perfume house inspired by photography and cameras 📸 @the_rac_on_teur – founder Craig Andrade brought these beauties from Australia. Nearly fainted with pleasure… @angelaflanders – stunning new bottles + the most beautiful stand 😍 @toldlondon – today we’re burning Night Blooms, India and we can confirm it’s swoon-worthy. @scentofafrica – truly transporting scents from a continent rising in fragrance 🌏 @kingdomscotland – not forgetting those Macallan-inspired candles… smoky, peaty, DIVINE. @t.leclercparis – famed for their iconic face powders, it’s so good to see them back. ✨ We anticipate that the show will be back next year, even bigger and better – and we’ll be able to give you a bit more notice. But it’s not our thing to rave about events we don’t know intimately, or write about products we’ve never tried.
