Jo's Scent Notes – Join the 'So You Think You Know Rose?' workshop at Barnes Fragrance Fair 2025
I’ve written about the Barnes Fragrance Fair before – a must-visit London event for perfume-lovers, taking place this year on 17th May across venues in Barnes, where I’m thrilled to be deep-diving into that most romantic and luscious of ingredients, the rose.
Rose is a pillar in perfumery, and in this masterclass, I’ll be joined by some VIP guests to demonstrate the depth, complexity and beauty of natural rose oils and how they are used in fragrance.
In this rose masterclass, we’ll be focusing on a very special rose extract from botanical ingredient masters LMR-Naturals, and trace its journey from field to flacon. You’ll be able to smell the ingredient – and how it’s showcased in finished fragrances.
Panel member Chris Yu, co-founder of Ostens, was so inspired by LMR-Naturals that he created a brand to share the olfactory treasures from that ingredients house, and you’ll get to explore both Ostens Impression Rose Oil Isparta Eau de Parfum and Préparation Oil, both based around this unique rose ingredient.
If you come along, you’ll also hear from IFF-LMR Naturals expert and General Manager Bertrand de Préville about sustainability in perfumery, on which the very future of natural ingredients may depend.
By the end of this this fascinating session, you’ll realise it isn’t always true that ‘a rose is a rose is a rose…’ And I’d so love to see you there! (And I happen to know there’s a fab goodie bag for attendees…)
DETAILS
Entry to the fair itself is free, and there’s a programme of paid-for workshops. This one is priced at £15, and there are other fab sessions with leading perfume journalists and experts – find them detailed here.
