Officine Universelle Buly Baume des Muses

This would be a lovely, lovely special pressie for someone, from a very exciting Parisian ‘pheonix’ beauty brand (dating back to 1803), revived and brilliantly reinvented by Ramdane Touhami and his wife Victoire de Taillac.

They’ve created exquisite retail spaces around the world showcasing incredible products in utterly unique packaging – and we’re betting that Buly are breathing a huge sigh of relief that retail seems to be opening up again, at least in some countries. (When you next get the chance to visit a Buly store or counter, do – it’s an experience that online can’t begin to come close to.)

These Baume des Muses lip balms, meanwhile, can be ordered through their website – a personalised lip balm that in a really wide range of (vegetable) leather finishes (we love the shagreen options). This can then be embossed in capital letters, with the recipient’s initials, with the option of a heart – the ‘I love you’ option.

The all-natural formulation is based on softening sesame oil, antioxidant plum oil, castor oil, shea butter and rice bran wax.

We love, love, LOVE our own Beauty Bible Lip Balm (exclusively available on Victoria Health here) – but we have to admit that it can’t compete in the glam stakes with this. The little mirrored compact just begs to be taken out to The Wolseley (or somewhere else lovely) for application during a celebratory post-lockdown lunch or dinner.

Of which we dream fairly regularly, at the mo.
