Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: NYX Smushy SOS Hydrating Lip Mask

Hate to say it, but the dry lip season is about to be upon us.

However, forewarned is… fore-lipped! Because we have discovered NYX Smushy SOS, a hydrating lip mask which (unlike most) is designed to be used by day, delivering a glossy, tinted finish.

It gives the cosy-care feeling of lip treatment, but with the polish of a lip gloss – in the shade of your choice. In fact, what it is, is a mega-rich lip balm that just takes longer to disappear from lips, we’re finding – unlike some, which disappear into the ether.

Hyaluronic acid is the headline ingredient, and the brand promises up to 12 hours of hydration (we have not yet put that to the touch!) There’s a soft-tip applicator for easy, comfortable swiping, and it comes in eight shades, each with its own soothing – but VERY IMPORTANTLY SUBTLE – scent. The ones we’ve tried and most definitely liked are Rose Recharge (third from left), with a light rosy scent, and the green one, by the name of Sereni Tea. Yes, it’s delicately tea-scented – but no, it’s not Kermit green on the lips, just a sheer, clear glaze.

So, you can certainly wear NYX Smushy SOS Hydrating Lip Mask overnight as a slightly glam lip treat, or dab it on by day when lips need TLC and a gleamy pop of colour. A welcome addition to the handbag and the bedside table.
