Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: The return of The Body Shop Dewberry
This is a Marmite of a relaunch, but nevertheless, a bit of a landmark. Who can forget Dewberry? It was the signature scent of so many in the late 80s and 90s, and legions of Dewberry-lovers were plunged into beauty mourning when it was discontinued.
But it’s BACK! Another sign that The Body Shop understands what a rich and beloved heritage it has to plunder. The fragrance has been revived (with a cheery new look) and layerable body products have been added to the range.
We still meet people who think that because their local Body Shop branch closed (and many didn’t), that this pioneering brand is no more. A reminder: it never disappeared, was always available online, and a lot of work is going into restoring The Body Shop to its former glory. Our friend Dame Anita Roddick would, we think, be thrilled – and if there’s a heaven, she’d certainly be smiling broadly down on this Dewberry revival.
In addition to the scent itself – available as a Perfume Oil and a Fragrance Mist – Dewberry is now available in all sorts of innovative formats that simply weren’t available in olden times. (We remember a simple Dewberry body lotion, but that was about it.) Think: Body Yoghurt (so luscious, this is one of our all-time fave textures from The Body Shop). Think: Body Butter and Hand Balm. A couple are available in travel as well as full sizes, great for a first intro.
This well-priced range range somehow catapults us through time and space, with itts blend of juicy dewberry, white lily, jasmine and freesia, settling into musks and a whisper of cedarwood. There’s never really been anything quite like it, before or since, and The Body Shop say that the range has ‘all the nostalgic boldness and charm you remember, reimagined for a new generation.’
Apparently, customers never stopped asking for Dewberry’s return – and now those wishes have come true, with ways to enjoy it that our much-missed friend Anita could only have dreamed of.
