Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Sam Chapman & Beauty Pie Wondercolour Soft Shadow Eye Crayon

We could not end a month of celebrating female beauty founders without bowing down before Marcia Kilgore, founder of (in no particular order): Bliss Spa, Soap & Glory, FitFlop, Soaper Duper and – most recently – Beauty Pie, which fits perfectly in this section, dedicated as it is to beauty bargains.

Always provocative, always disruptive, Marcia’s Beauty Pie has really set the cat among the pigeons, beauty industry-wise. Fact: there is a huge mark-up on beauty products. We kinda all know that, and to be honest, many of us happily pay those inflated prices because there’s so much else going on when we do so: it’s about saying ‘I’m worth it’, or about deserving some ‘me-time’, or because we truly admire a brand (Gucci, Chanel, etc.) and actually, it’s still a LOT cheaper to buy the lipstick than the handbag.

But with Beauty Pie, Marcia set out to cut out the middle man and offer near-factory prices – with one caveat. You need to sign up to become a Beauty Pie VIP, which is priced just £4.95 a month, if pay annually (that’s £59), or £10 a month if you pay monthly. You can also suck-it-and-see with a 60-Day Free Trial (it auto renews after 60 days, but they do remind you before if you decide not to continue).

The prices then plummet so fast you can almost hear the ‘whoosh’. When you look at everything on the site – and, comprehensively, it covers every imaginable beauty category, from tools to skincare via make-up, bath goodies, the lot – you’ll find great price-points across every category. (And several products have scooped Beauty Bible Awards, over the years, NB.)

This new discovery is from a Beauty Pie collaboration with superstar make-up artist Sam Chapman: the shade Lady M is a smudgy eye pencil that creates instant definition, in a sort of beautiful mushroom shade that works on every skintone (as you can see here). Smoosh, smoosh, GO!

The ‘non-members’ price (i.e. what a ‘normal’ brand would charge) is £25 – but when you’ve joined Beauty Pie, it’s just a tenner. But be quick – lots of this Sam Chapman collection is sold out already (and we’re so not surprised).
