Lucia Ferrari's #Lockdown Loves...

LUCIA_FERRARI.jpg

Lucia Ferrari is one of the many beauty colleagues we are REALLY missing seeing at launches – all of which have now shifted online for the foreseeable future. (We’ll miss the giggling in the corners, that’s for sure.) But her @luciaferraribeauty Instagram updates and videos have been a joy – and we strongly recommend you follow, for skincare and make-up wisdom (see above: Lucia’s own skin is her best advertisement. And she’s game for trying all sorts of gadgets and treatments that we somehow never find time for.)

To quote Lucia, she’s all about ‘Grownup Luxury Skincare and Makeup – but I love a bargain, too.’ We were thrilled when Lucia agreed to share her #lockdown loves with Beauty Bible – we love a fresh perspective, and an insight into the products that have been really working for someone at an incredibly challenging time. So: enjoy!

Westman Atelier Lip Suede Compact

So The ‘Lipstick Effect’ (the theory from the Great Depression that when faced with economic crisis, people are more than willing to splurge on a luxurious small item like a lipstick) kicked in after about half an hour of being in lockdown for me. I adore all of make up artist, Gucci Westman’s luxe, capsule collection of beautiful make-up and had been longing for one of her lip suede palettes. They cost an arm and a leg and I’d been dying for one for months after seeing normally nude lipped Gwyneth Paltrow with a jaunty cherry-red lip months back on her Goop website (advertising the same lip suede palette at a sunny barbecue). Then when I started watching Gucci on Instagram telling us how the palette had taken such a LONG time to create as it didn’t contain any nasty silicones, is really hydrating and even contains actual CHERRY juice well that was it. Seriously though, it’s such an item of great beauty. The little scarlet compact is the perfect size for your palm, is really weighty and has four little stripes of the most exquisite lip colours from a gorgeous nude to a sexy deep bordeaux colour. It is perched on my dressing table and here’s the thing. I haven’t actually used it. I love it too much! But it brings me huge joy every morning when I see it there winking at me.

Skin Gym Face Sculptor

This is absolutely the next best thing to having a therapist’s hands on your face giving you a facial.  It’s such a clever little home device I am utterly addicted. I love my rose quartz gua sha tool also (especially for jawline de-puffing) but this Face Sculptor really takes things up a notch. I love using it in bed or while watching the telly. I think because my face is on the fuller side it’s particularly effective. It really feels like a therapist is kneading your cheeks. I also think it works well to de-puff as well as making the cheekbones look a bit more toned.

BIC Miss Soleil Disposable Razors

I was chatting with my best friend one of the first Saturday’s of Lockdown who told me she’d just done a supermarket sweep at Superdrug Oxford Street and these were one of her top finds. The name was enough for me. I was straight on to Amazon, adding to cart. They have been so brilliant and if shaving legs was good enough for the Supermodels in the 80’s it’s definitely good enough for me! I won’t be waxing again.

Born in the Sun headbands

When my dark roots took hold a couple of weeks in, out came the headbands. And I’ve amassed quite a collection. Peach Terry Towelling, Baby Pink Cotton and my favourite ‘Le Blanc’ – the white suede. I like to match my headband to a dressing gown, to make me feel a bit like Sofia Loren whether I’m emptying the dishwasher, filming an IGTV or on a Zoom. Seriously, they have saved many a bad hair day. And rather like a tiara they add a bit of height and seem to be flattering on anyone.

Medik 8 Hand and Nail Cream and Marigold gloves

I love this trick I started doing on week one of slathering my hands in a good hand cream and popping on a pair of Marigolds to do the housework.  Even after half an hour my hands are in much better shape than when the gloves went on. I love this citrusy smelling rich Medik 8 hand cream as it leaves really dry hands feeling velvety and has an SPF25.
