Have you discovered DoSe by VH? When our friend Gill Sinclair – who has made her mission to sleuth out the best skincare on the planet (among other beauty and wellbeing essentials), for her Victoria Health website – announced that she was launching her own range, we were very excited. (Not least because the products are at Not Silly Prices; the serum featured here is £20 for 30ml, which is terrific value.)
DoSe by VH is formulated by Shabir Daya, Gill’s VH co-founder – for decades one of our go-to specialists, for his deep knowledge of supplements and ingredients. (Shabir’s idea of fun includes sitting and reading scientific papers and clinical studies, in depth.)
There are cleansers, toner, moisturisers in the range – but DoSe by VH’s cornerstone is the serum line-up, designed to target pigmentation, lines and wrinkles, dullness… However, DoSe by VH Triple Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid is our absolute favourite serum yet, though – chosen recently by Sarah as our Fab Find of the Week, after seeing the improvements to her own skin.
You can read the full review here – but as Sarah wrote, this is a ‘formula with not one, not two – but three forms of vitamin C plus ferulic acid, a powerful antioxidant. Why three types of vitamin C? Basically, it’s to achieve maximum effect – which we’re all for. Here’s the lowdown: ascorbic acid boosts collagen production and reduces pigmentation; 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid brightens skin and targets dark spots (think of it as the Exocet missile); while ascorbyl glucoside is a stable form that supports collagen and smooths wrinkles.
Meanwhile Ferulic Acid protects the Vitamin C from oxidation, neutralising potentially skin damaging free radicals. In fact, it’s a bit of a super star itself: acting to intensively hydrate the skin cells, which then hold moisture longer so your complexion looks smoother and more supple, as well more even because it helps reduce pigmentation and dark spots.’
