Alice Hart-Davis's #Lockdown Loves...
For the latest in a series which began with the four team members from Beauty Bible sharing our #lockdown loves, we asked beauty editor Alice Hart-Davis, founder of brilliant The Tweakments Guide, which five products have been getting her through this extraordinary period. Weโve had time really to think about which products deliver on their promises, bring comfort and lift our spirits โ and weโre fascinated to hear whatโs worked for our beauty world friends. โNone of these lovely treats are cheap but these have all been a particular joy,โ Alice says. Adding that, โthey felt like extra-special indulgences during lockdownโ.
Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Foundation
I can do Zoom calls bare-faced, but Iโve been doing Instagram Live broadcasts almost every day with practitioners in my Tweakments Guide community and usually, as much as a kindness to those who have to watch as my own vanity, I need to wear foundation. This one is scorchingly expensive, but it gives such a fabulous, flawless finish that I reach for it time and again.

Daniel Sandler Lipstick in Gigi
Sometimes, I find I just need lipstick as a pick-me-up to face that camera lens yet again and this is a real kick-ass fuchsia, which does the trick every time.

Connock London Rich Body Cream
Itโs really indulgent and it smells warm and intriguing โ down to the kukui oil, I think. The kind of fragrance that, back in the day when we could greet people with a kiss, would make them say โWow, you smell amazing.โ

Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil
This was a gift from my brilliant hairdresser, Ivan Ferreira, to get me through lockdown. Itโs horribly expensive, but really, really lovely to use. One small pump of this does the trick, even on my hair (long and lots of it), so it lasts and lasts.

Dermalux Flex
This isnโt really a home-use device; itโs a version of the top-of-the-range Dermalux Light Therapy technology that is used in tweakments clinics all over the world, but it IS available for private purchase, which is why I include it. And, lucky me, I was lent one of these to try out just before lockdown. What can it do? The red light reduces inflammation and encourages cell renewal in the skin for tighter, firmer skin thatโs more even in tone. Iโm using it nearly every day, and also trying the deeper, joint-healing, near-infrared light on my creaky back. Does it work? Oh yes. Clinically proven, gold-standard tech. You just need to do it often enough.
