Edina Ronay Silk Masks for The Vineyard Project
As of now, of course, weβre all advised to wear masks when shopping or travelling on public transport. And we duly will.
Indeed, lately, itβs seemed as if every other ad on our Instagram feed is for face masks. (That was bound to happen, no?) But nothing has quite hit the mark for us mask-wise β till now. Denim? No thanks: too thick and claustrophobic. Millennial pink satin? More boudoir than Bakerloo Line. Surgical masksβ¦? Well, as a fall-back, sure. If we must. (Got a stock of those, anyway.)
Immediately this pinged into our inbox (yesterday afternoon), though, we placed an order. Because the wonderful fashion designer Edina Ronay has created THE most gorgeous vintage-style silk masks, with all proceeds going to the excellent charity The Vineyard Community Project, based near her home in Richmond, London.
The Vineyard Community Project works to help the homeless and lonely people, creating food banks for those in need in the local community. Altogether, A Very Good Thing which you can read more about here.
Weβve long been HUGE fans of Edinaβs designs (um, Jo bought her first Edina Ronay item in the 1970s!). We love her βBuy less, buy to lastβ philosophy β and if you check out the rest of her website, youβll find timeless designs that you will still be wearing in 20 yearsβ time.
As for the masks themselves, these are made of soft, lightweight silk (hand-washable), and are available in 18 different designs (see just some of them below β Jo bought the blue one, top).
We will now actively look forward to wearing our masks. For which we send Edina just the biggest kiss (even if she wonβt be able to see it, when weβve got our lovely masks on).
