Fab Find of the Week: skin:genius

This brand kinda had us at ‘hello’, with its brilliant branding. How ingenious is skin:genius? That ‘hello’, meanwhile, came at a business conference where Jo was speaking, and found herself chatting to this brand’s founder, Julia Vearncome, who offered her a tube of the product pictured above left.
Now, since menopause, otherwise healthy Jo has experienced outbreaks of eczema. Her husband Craig suffers with psoriasis, particularly during the winter months. So (without any particular expectations), Julia had two willing subjects to put skin:genius through its paces.
Without any great expectations, it has to be said; having tried many different treatments for their flare-ups, no truly natural products had made a serious difference. skin:genius, however, is based on soothing naturals including sweet almond oil, calendula, evening primrose oil, squalane, with oils of chamomile and lavender.
These two products pictured above – luscious Cream Come True (a speedily-absorbed product), and Oil Day Long, which is dispensed via a dropper – have proved instantly, wonderfully, really rather gloriously soothing, and more importantly, seem slowly to be delivering results longer-term on both skin conditions. (Jo forgot to photograph the ‘befores’, but both she and her husband are finding their respective fiendish itching is definitely improved.)
Of course, psoriasis and eczema are notoriously and frustratingly tricky to treat – and you’ll only ever get results if you are absolutely, night-time and morning diligent with using any treatment. Created by Julia in tandem with Hilery Dorrian (who we know from Barefoot Botanicals days), however, these draw on homeopathic and naturopathic wisdom, and certainly, on their Instagram, you can see some quite impressive cases where the customers did remember to do their ‘befores’ as well as the ‘afters’.
We haven’t tried them, but skin:genius also offer acne treatment products, and target menopausal skin woes. And all in all, we’re pretty happy about this serendipitous intro to a brand that is – well, a little bit skin:genius.
