Can't TELL you how pleased we are to see more and more refills popping up in the beauty arena – and how so-not-surprised we are that this sustainable-from-the-get-go brand has embraced the refill. In a big way.
Susanne Kaufmann is an Austrian beauty name whose roots, as we say, have always been in sustainable beauty – she calls her collection 'consciously created', and it became clear – on a recent Zoom launch – that a lot of thought has gone into these refills, along with the rest of her skincare and bodycare.
Glass was chosen as the material for the original packaging of these products –but glass is heavy and has a hefty environmental footprint of its own. By contrast, these recyclable plastic refills – for Cleansing Gel, Hand Soap and Shower/Shampoo (a double-duty product) – are lightweight and can simply be snipped before pouring the contents into your empty bottle. Most importantly, you can then reuse the original pump – because these are rarely recyclable and a real beauty waste problem.
The Gel Cleanser, in particular, is a lovely, gentle way to clean your face if you love the feel of water on your skin, using a sugar-based surfactant to cleanse without stripping or leaving skin tight.
If you're not familiar with the luxe naturals range, it's a good place to start. Personally, we first discovered this range in Liberty – and it's a bit of a cult favourite with the 'A' list, now. A fifth-generation hotelier, Susanne Kaufmann also runs a spa hotel in the Austrian Alps, which we're dreaming of visiting when it becomes easier to do so. Sigh...
