Beauty Bible Loves... Merit Signature Lip Blush
It’s all about the blurry lip, right now. Soft. Sultry. A little bit… ‘bitten’. Oh, no doubt lipstick fashion will swing back in the direction of a full-on glossy finish at some point, but right now, lips are soft-matte and soft-edged.
The perfect lipstick to achieve that? We’re so not surprised that Merit customers lobbied to bring this back, after its sell-out limited edition run. It belongs in the permanent collection of this brand, which is taking up ever more space in our kits.
There are eight shades, which you can see below – Framboise is incredibly flattering and – as the swatch suggests – a raspberry pink, like a deep natural lip shade (Jo’s favourite). For something a touch more neutral, we might recommend Bespoke (deep rosy-brown) or Vendôme (a sheer nude). But honestly, we think any of these would work with any skin tone – they’re quite forgiving. They’re quite sheer – but layerable for greater intensity.
The overall effect is sort of cool-girl Parisienne – and it’s a lip look that would work well on down days when you’ve almost a bare face (or have created the illusion of same, as per the model pictured above), or with a more polished make-up.
Hopefully they won’t sell out again too soon
