Diptyque City candles

Quick, quick, quick! If you happen to be within striking distance of a Diptyque boutique, your nose is in for a treat.

Throughout the world, in different countries, you can find a signature Diptyque candle for each location. Londres (London) is, naturally, readily available in the UK – an enchanting blend of lilac, juniper and heliotrope (an almond-y/powdery note) – but the other candles are normally exclusive to their ciites. Think: Pékin/Beijing, which layers the freshness of green tea over magnolia and sandalwood, or Paris (just a short Eurostar away, if you fancy that one), filling a room with lavender, bergamot and patchouli.

But until tomorrow, 26th April – we’re guessing midnight – all of the city candles are available online, as well as in their boutiques.

This window of olfactory opportunity also coincides with the launch of a new Diptyque City Candles, celebrating the South Korean mega-city Seoul. It takes the country’s signature flower, hibiscus, drawing on the reds and pinks of the blooms for its livery, mixing subtle woodsiness with wafts of jasmine, incense and cedar. From Thursday, it will only be available in the city it’s named for. (And that’s a l-o-n-g way…)

We’ll be drifting by Diptyque’s boutique on Brook Street this very day, amidst a day of press launches to reacquaint ourselves with some city favourites – and be wafted to Seoul via our noses.

It’s definitely our favourite way to travel.
