Beauty Bible Loves... Daylesford Lily of the Valley Candle
Lily of the valley are the most glorious blooms. Trouble is, they’re ‘blink-and-you-miss-them’ flowers, and this year – since their flowering coincided with the early summer heatwave – they were gone in a flash.
But this Daylesford Lily of the Valley Candle lets us enjoy the sweet scent of muguet, year-round. It’s heady and rich, yet airy and soft at the same time, burning beautifully. The beautiful vessel, meanwhile, is made of porcelain at one of the few British workshops that remain. Definitely too precious to throw away, and it would make a gorgeous posy vase.
There’s a wonderful tradition in France of giving posies of lily-of-the-valley on 1st May – the 'Fête du Muguet' – as tokens of admiration, good fortune and friendship. That calendar date may have been or gone, but this would also make a meaningful gift for someone special, we think.
And the great thing about gardening? It’s all about anticipation. We’re already looking forward to next year’s lily of the valley (and hoping that they bloom a little longer, in 2027) – but for now, we’re more than happy to fill the house with the scent of this.
