Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Soap & Glory Perfect Zen
Soap & Glory rarely disappoint. Never have, since our friend Marcia Kilgore founded the brand, and her spirit of boundless creativity endures.
Their latest drop is a collection of products formulated to help beckon sleep at the end of the day. We were sort of expecting straight-up lavender, but the fragrance – obviously a key element – is more complex than that; there is lavender, yes, but also sparkly bergamot and the cocooning warmth of tonka.
That fragrance comes via a very interesting project at Givaudan, one of the world's leading fragrance companies. To quote Simon Ellwood, Head of Health & Wellbeing at Givaudan’s Centre of Excellence, 'We formulated Soap & Glory’s Perfect Zen collection using Givaudan’s "DreamScentz" pioneering technology, which is designed to optimise sleep quality based on our understanding of the link between fragrance, positive mood states and good sleep.' (There's some really interesting work going on in this aromatherapeutic field.)
Two products in particular have taken our fancy, from the line-up above: the Warming Body Scrub/£9 for 250ml, with a gel-like texture that gently warms on application and buffs skin lightly and beautifully, prepping it perfectly for lashings of our other favourite, the airily whipped but mega-rich Perfect Zen Body Souffle/£11 for 300ml. (Slightly above our usual 'Steal' ceiling, but it's a WHACKING tub.) This is enriched with cocoa butter, sweet almond and chamomile oils and sinks in like the dream you'll be having after it helps you wind down for sleepy-time.
