Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Altruist Face Fluid SPF50

A proper, dermatologist-created daily sunscreen, for around a tenner or so. That’s worth sharing.

We’ve been hearing the buzz about Altruist Face Fluid SPF50 for a while, now, and it was time for a road-test. And this has SO much going for it. Created by consultant derm and skin cancer surgeon Dr. Andrew Birnie (and no one understands the importance of SPF better than a skin cancer surgeon), this offers top-notch UVA and UVB protection.

Light and non-sticky, it’s good under make-up and over a surprisingly sunny Bank Holiday, stopped Jo’s face (which was quite exposed) from developing so much as an extra freckle.

Though it’s light and fluid, there are skincare benefits – from niacinamide and vitamin E. And with the flip-top lightweight design, it’s not a stretch to suggest you could pop it in a handbag and carry it around for top-ups, though we can’t attest to how well it applies over make-up, NB. (It’s also water-resistant – not that we’ve put that through its paces, either. Too early for sea swimming, even for Jo!)

We very much like this brand’s mission – see here – and the fact that the brand supports a little-known but wonderful cause, the African Albinism Foundation.

But leaving that aside, it’s just a darned great find. (And our thanks, in this case, to the beauty grapevine.)
