Often, they fall flat or lack some kind of fairy dust sparkle that brings a scent alive. It’s why perfumers often turn to synthetics, maintaining that they are required to add that essential dazzle and light. Our fab find this week is @c.atherleylondon with the beautiful Red Zonal bags ❤️ We were JUST starting to begin to maybe think about Christmas (yikes) when these landed on the desk – the latest design from C.Atherley, Cath Kidston Padgham MBE’s geranium-inspired collection, which goes by the name of ‘Red Zonal’ (that’s the type of pelargonium – the cheery ones you always see in hot Mediterranean villages, for instance). Make that several collections – and counting – because there are now No.1 (based on Pelargonium radens, which smells of rose, lemon, mint and cedar), No.2 (Pelargonium tomentosum, the slightly minty one – and Jo’s favourite of all), and the most recently launched, No.3, whose scent inspiration is the sherbet lemony Mabel Grey geraniuim. And we were looking at these bags – lovely in their own right, lined with a light waterproof fabric to make them suitable for cosmetics – and thinking: you could equally turn them into Christmas wrapping, for a sort of double-whammy gift. 💖 Fab Find of the Week: @vivaia_official shoes 👟 We think we’ve found the comfiest shoes in the world. Independently of each other, Sarah and Jo have both discovered (thanks to Instagram) the brand VIVAIA – a worthy alternative to the FitFlops we’ve long been devoted to. And yes, shoes can most definitely be a beauty product. In a comfortable pair of shoes, you’ll want to walk – good for that ‘second heart’, as the legs are known. And you won’t wince or frown – neither of which is a pretty look. Between us, we’ve tried three styles so far. For Jo, the absolute winners are the black satin trainers, right – definitely dressed-up trainers, but so comfortable that she walked 14,000 steps in them with no tights on the first day – and not a hint of a whisper of a blister, either.
