Stock up on your Guerlain – and support World Bee Day!

Today is World Bee Day, as declared by the United Nations – which we think is A Wonderful Thing. Bees are fascinating creatures, on whom the whole balance of nature depends; they are crucial pollinators for so many food crops, as well as for plants that produce ingredients for skincare and other cosmetics. Bottom line is: over 75% of cultivated plants and 90% of wild flowering plants depend on pollinators, which vitally include bees, yet they are under huge threat from diminishing diversity, loss of habitat and pesticide use.

Of course, bees and Guerlain go back a long way: the bee is the emblem of the fragrance and beauty house, with bees adorning Guerlain’s most treasured scent bottles, and bee-derived ingredients (like honey and royal jelly) at the heart of the Guerlain Abeille Royale skincare range.

Bee preservation has been at the heart of Guerlain’s sustainability programme for several years – and from today to 22nd May (which happens to be the International Day for Biological Diversity), Guerlain want us all to help raise one million euros in aid of the Guerlain for Bees Conservation Programme. Over these three days, Guerlain will donate 20% of its worldwide sales (find the full list of participating boutiques on guerlain.com), as well as 20 euros for every repost of the fab image below: just go to Instagram, look for @guerlain and repost, remembering to tag #WorldBeeDay and #GuerlainFor Bees – or click here to find their Insta account…

They’d like us to encourage friends and family to take part – and frankly, we think the WHOLE WORLD should be taking part, so spread the word. (And remember: this really is the perfect time to stock up on Guerlain, too.)
