Fab Find of the Week: Tabitha James Kraan natural haircare
When it comes to natural haircare (and beauty generally), Tabitha James Kraan knows her stuff. She’s as ‘green’ as we are – and from the original authors of The Green Beauty Bible, that is saying something. (We were thrilled to be part of a panel with Tabitha at last year’s Daylesford Festival.)
A working stylist with one of the only truly organic hair salons in the country, Tabitha worked long and hard to create a range of haircare that rivals the conventional stuff out there. And in our opinion, although some of the products are a little different in texture to what you might be used to, they more than hold their own.
You won’t get much of a froth off Amber Rose Hair Cleanser, for instance – but it cleans beautifully. And oh, that soft, rosy scent, with hints of geranium, chamomile and ylang ylang... Hair heaven. Follow with Amber Rose Organic 4-in-1 Conditioner, whose four actions are that it works as a traditional, comb-through-and-rinse product, as a leave-in conditioner on mid-lengths and ends, as a scalp moisturiser when yours is feeling dry and itchy – just a tiny bit is all that’s needed to soothe – and to add texture to dry hair. (We love it for that.) There is a fresh scent called Golden Citrus, meanwhile, if this doesn’t float your boat.
For an occasional deep pre-shampoo treat, we rate Amber Rose Organic Hair Oil – and if you’re still worried about hair oils, Tabitha explains: ‘The oil will give weight and volume to fine hair and a smooth, silky finish to thick hair, leaves the hair feeling stronger, protected and easier to blow-dry or style.’
And last but no means least on our list of Tabitha James Kraan picks, there’s the clever Dry Shampoo, which comes in a version for blondes or for brunettes, with a full-size shaker or (for fair hair only) the terribly clever on-the-go version, above, which is brilliant for keeping in a desk or taking on your hols. (And who isn’t dreaming of those?) Such sexy packaging for the teeny one, too.
If your New Year’s Resolution is to ‘green up’ your haircare routine, this is seriously the place to start. And if it isn’t? We still recommend you explore this range, because it’s as good as anything out there, eco or not.
