Fab Find of the Week: NEST New York Wild Mint and Eucalyptus home fragrances

We’ve honestly been trying to write about NEST New York since we first sat down for tea with the founder, lovely Laura Slatkin, a few months ago. Trouble is… whenever we were about to go live with an item, the candles and diffusers had flown off the shelves at Cult Beauty, where they have (for now) exclusively landed. We’re very much not surprised – and we’re very much encouraging you not to dally, to get your hands on this particular collection.

NEST New York’s home fragrance pedigree is pretty unrivalled. Laura Slatkin previously helped pioneer the whole scented candle category, via her previous business Slatkin & Co, which she co-founded with husband Harry. (It’s hard to imagine but save for a brand called Rigaud, and some of the early Diptyque candles, there was almost nothing out there on the candle front, 30 years ago.) She then started all over again with NEST New York, and unsurprisingly, to us, has been hugely successful all over again.

There are plenty of wonderful scents in the range; until now, we were torn between smoochy the Moroccan Amber candle and the zesty Sicilian Tangerine candle. But the ‘Wellness’ collection offers a dimension that we feel we’re very much in need of, now, in this big old scary world.

There are two fragrances in Wellness: Driftwood and Chamomile (a breezy, beachy, outdoorsy scent), and Wild Mint and Eucalyptus, which we find calming and super-soothing: clean, aromatic, calming – imagine a cooling breeze, ruffling the white curtains at an open window. If a candle or a diffuser range can bring down blood pressure, we figure this is it.

Art Deco-inspired packaging is super-chic, and the candle vessels upcycle beautifully as vases.

So: how are your NEST-ing instincts…?
