Fab Find of the Week: Neal's Yard Frankincense Hydrating Essence

We feel a little like stakeholders in the amazing success of Neal’s Yard Remedies’ Frankincense collection, ever since their very first Frankincense Nourishing Cream did so well in our Beauty Bible Awards, w-a-y back in the day, that it not only sold out nationally but created a global shortage of blue glass to cope with demands on production!

We’re not surprised. Frankincense oil – the cornerstone of this range – has amazing skin-saving powers, quite aside from being heaven to breathe in as you apply any of the products from what is now a VERY comprehensive range, all based around sustainably-sourced frankincense.

This is one of the new generation of ‘skin essences’, which are more than toners: they have some kind of skin-caring action – in this case, adding a veil of long-lasting hydration. Neal’s Yard Remedies also put this tall, slim (yes, blue) bottle of Hydrating Essence through its paces with 100 women for two weeks, who reported at the conclusion of that trial that skin was brighter for 80%, ‘improved’ for a similar proportion, while 71% of the testers felt their complexion was more refined.

Combined with their Frankincense Intense Age Defying Serum, the results were even more impressive: 97% agreed skin was smoother, while 87% agreed that fine lines and wrinkles were visibly reduced.

We certainly feel that skin is more dewy – and are enjoying every blissful, skin-quenching, frankincense-scented swipe. (And we hope they have plenty of blue glass bottles in stock…)
