Fab Find of the Week: Jo Malone Care Collection

We may never emerge from the bathroom… because Jo Malone London have launched an utterly blissful bodycare collection which is encouraging us to lavish much-needed TLC on areas of our bodies which have been hidden under layers for too, too long.

For this sublime seven-piece line-up, they took inspiration from the rituals enjoyed at Britain’s Roman baths. (Indeed, from next month, there will be treatments at London’s AIRE Ancient Baths, a spa which takes its inspiration from Roman, Greek and Ottoman bathing rituals. And we can’t wait for that.)

As you might expect, everything smells amazing. It feels properly β€˜therapeutic’ – but it’s not technically aromatherapy. CΓ©line Roux, Jo Malone London’s very clever Head of Global Fragrance, buried herself in books about essential oils as inspiration, incorporating fragrant botanicals in the range – but bringing another level of olfactory expertise to the collection.

There are different fragrant β€˜threads’ working through the line. So, taking it from the top, you have the following (all of which can be found online by clicking on the name – exclusive to Selfridges, NB).

Purify Shower Gel/Β£25 for 200ml – this is really stimulating and fresh, with herby hyssop, juniper and myrtle. Lightly foaming – but we don’t find it drying.

Revitalising Exfoliating Soap/Β£16 for 100g – gently skin-buffing, deliciously citrusy and aromatic, with bay, lemon peel and verbena.

Enrich Shower Cream/Β£25 for 200ml – this, alternatively, is deliciously floral, lusciously skin-conditioning, leaving it veiled in cedarwood, rose and chamomile. (If you’re not a shower person – and we’re not – then it’s great on a big, fluffy sponge.)

Restore Body Treatment Scrub/Β£50 for 200g – rejoice, lovers of Jo Malone London’s long-lost vitamin E-based scrub – because it’s found a new home in this collection. Based around gentle sugar, it smells honeyed and spicy – and you wouldn’t need a moisturiser to follow… but that would be a shame.

Revitalise Body Gel-Cream/Β£34 for 200ml – this would be great in a gym kit, since it sinks in straight away, leaving skin velvety but good- to-go. Scent here is refreshing, citrusy, aromatic. (And again, lovely.)

Restore Body Oil/Β£64 for 150ml – wow, another favourite product, revived in this collection! This is the skincare brand Rodin’s fabulous, late-lamented body oil, given the Jo Malone London treatment. It is utterly heavenly, fragrant with neroli, jasmine and rosehip essential oils, in a base of evening primrose and sweet almond oils. If we could have just one treat from this Care Collection, this would be it.

Enrich Body Balm/Β£64 for 200ml – oh, heavens. This is heaven. It ties with the Body Oil as our favourite in the range: rich, luscious, indulgent, and very delectably moisturising, with tons of shea butter and hyaluronic acid. The scent, for us, is roses, roses all the way.

Gorgeous minimalist, clean packaging – which would go with any bathroom dΓ©cor – for the range. And wlightly unconventionally, we are suggesting that you start a β€˜Dear Santa’ list now, and put these on it, if the collection is a little β€˜luxe’ for an eveyday indulgence.

And yes, we know it is March.
