Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia 'Now & Forever'
We well remember the original launch of English Pear & Freesia, at historic Keats House in Hampstead. (Jo sat next to the perfumer, Christine Nagel, now the resident superstar perfumer at Hermès, and had a bit of a fan-girl moment.)
It was the first time we’d encountered the crunchy juiciness of a pear note in a scent, enjoying its absolute freshness and realising how well it paired (or possibly pear-ed) with the light, airy, floral freshness of freesia – a note not often found in perfumes, but heavenly here. It’s fresh. It’s crisp. And this fragrance simply doesn’t smell like anything else, before or since.
English Pear & Freesia has thus become a bestseller and a fragrance we return to again and again. So we are not alone, in our liking for it, but fellow fans will thrill to the news that a limited edition collection just launched, to include a gorgeous Home Candle, for the first time, a mahoosive Body & Hand Wash (a half-litre size), together with special packaging for the limited edition Colognes, in sizes from 30ml.
It never ceases to surprise us, each year, that around August-time we find ourselves starting to look forward to Autumn – even when summer has felt as painfully short as this one. It’s a season that has its compensations, and in 2021, our renewed acquaintance with this lovely scent is definitely going to be one of them.
