Fab Find of the Week: Diptyque Beauty Alcoves
Don’t know about you, but we are in full-on organisation and decluttering and dejunking and taking things to charity shops mode. It’s what January’s for, isn’t it…?
Well, should you find yourself in need of beautiful accessories to incentivise you to keep up the tidy work in the bathroom or on your dressing table, check out these beauties from Diptyque.
Everyone knows Diptyque as ‘the candle people’, but for quite some years now they have also created beautiful ceramics – all of which you’ll find displayed at their Sloane Street flagship, where the space to do them justice. (Always worth a perfume pilgrimage, that place, too.)
Created from biscuit porcelain, these are the latest to join the ceramic line-up, made by the Manufacture de Couleuvre Workshops, curated under the albeit slightly strange name ‘Beauty Alcoves’. Well, we reckon they’re not ‘alcoves’; they’re storage pieces. But what we’re not going to argue over is their attractiveness: sleek, sculpted, ideal for hiding that clutter, storing those Q-Tips and cotton balls, toothbrush, jewellery, and generally pimping your space very, very stylishly. The Beauty Alcoves collection also features the Oval Pocket Mirror, meanwhile, is a gorgeous portable ‘marine terrazzo’ mirror (below), created from shell fragments, which could have a life beyond the bathroom, in your handbag.
To quote Diptyque’s press release, ‘There’s more here than a mere collection of objects – you’re invited to transform each instant of your daily bathroom ritual into a moment of refinement.’ (Easier said than done when you’re sharing your space with others and they’re queueing to get in, but we applaud the thought.)
