Fab Find of the Week: COOLA Liplux Lip Balm Sunscreen SPF30
‘Nice lipstick,’ we said when we bumped into our elegant friend Lara Sinclair, of Victoria Health, a couple of weeks back.
‘Not a lipstick. COOLA’s new tinted lip balms,’ she told us. ‘I never wear anything else, now. And I’ll send you some.’ They were duly delivered next day (that’s VH service for you) and we became instant and firm fans.
These are a tiny bit more pigmented than most, but offer great glide and comfort, as well as a really useful SPF30. And they definitely stay put better; many tinted lip balms are gone in the blink of an eye (or rather, the smack of a pair of lips).
We’re hard-pressed to choose a favourite from the three shades received. They’re not-too-shiny, creating more of a ‘bitten lip’ finish than a gloss – and that probably accounts for the fact they last that bit longer on the lips, too. The balms are mineral-based – zinc oxide and titanium dioxide – with nourishing botanicals that include coconut, olive, moringo and avocado oils, cocoa and shea butter (and more).
Skinny Dip is a beige-y classic nude, Summer Crushp is a mid-pink that would work on all skintones, but Firecracker is going to be our go-to: a deeper-toned berry pink (less ‘fiery’ than it sounds, NB).
Summer’s lipstick replacements, as far as we’re concerned.
