Fab Find of the Week: Chantecaille The Butterfly Collection
It’s officially Spring! Primroses, daffodowndillies, catkins are budding everywhere. And now we have new make up enchantments from Chantecaille in the shape of The Butterfly collection.
Creative Director Olivia Chantecaille, one of brand founder Sylvie’s two daughters, explains that her inspiration for the new collection ‘reflects the early spring flowers that burst into our lives come March.’ The packaging, as usual with this brand, is as much a delight as the products; the compacts are real collectibles, BTW.
Two particularly beautiful Spring offerings here. The Butterfly Eye Quartet with four shades: Rose Gold Satin, Taupe Satin, Peach Shimmer and Pink/Green/Gold Dual Chrome High Pearl – this last using high-tech magic to capture the shot taffeta effect of a butterfly’s wings in the sunlight. The palette is, as Olivia says, ‘fresh and exciting’; we’d say ‘so pretty and very wearable’.
Rose Gold Satin is a perfect everyday shadow and/or base for High Pearl. While Taupe Satin makes a becoming, soft, smudgy line around eyes; use it wet for more definition. We’re popping Peach Shimmer in the socket to gorgeous effect. But, truly, the colours are so flattering that it’s impossible to go wrong; just have a play and discover the combo that best compliments your colouring and eye shape. Perfect to up your game above a mask and for Zoom.
Lip Chic comes in three shades – Clover, Hyssop and Peach Blossom - reflecting the flowers that butterflies love to pollinate. Clover is a soft, suits all colourings, goes anywhere, daytime pink. Hyssop a richer, deeper woody rose and Peach Blossom zings with coral. They’re glossy, lightweight, and infused with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid to make them lip-luscious in every way.
Oh, and you can mix and match the aqua, lime and lilac magnetic tops with different cases. ‘Just for fun!’ says Alex Chantecaille (Olivia’s sister and the brand’s Vice President of Sales Promotions).
As a family, the Chantecailles have a true longstanding passion for the natural world and every collection supports an environmental cause. The Butterfly Collection will fund a donation to the Xerces Society and their work to restore native habitat for butterflies and other pollinators. In this case the habitat will be over 40 acres in California’s Central Valley.
