Fab Find of the Week: C.Atherley Geranium No.4
C.Atherley have done it again. A fourth, in their sequence of geranium-powered hand, body and face products – and this time, the Geranium No.4 fragrance evokes ‘Attar of Roses’, probably our favourite of ALL scented geraniums. The quintessential ‘rose geranium’ scent, just so, so beautifully captured here. If you’re not a geranium nerd, then it’s probably the single rose geranium scent that you think of, when conjuring up the smell in your mind’s eye.
Apparently, while it’s one of Cath’s favourites (and absolutely ours, too), that process took two years, since these plants don’t readily give up an authentic smell and must be studied and experimented with to recreate the scent to the point you can’t tell it from the real thing. And this really has it: that moment of rubbing your hand against the leaves, raising them to your nose and… well, just heaven.
The two photos above were taken at the rather spiffy launch at Jamb, the most stunning architectural salvage/antique emporium in Pimlico, to which C.Atherley founder Cath Kidston Padgham MBE had driven her own impressively green and giant geranium plants. (Note to self: overwinter in the house next winter, rather than a chilly greenhouse, which has done for some of Jo’s treasured collection of these plants.)
This collection kicks off with some splendid body and bath treats, offering the same fab textures as numbers 1, 2 and 3, including the luscious Geranium No.4 Hand Cream (we never like to be more than about six feet from a tube of one of Cath’s hand creams, frankly, and happily a handbag size is avaialble).
We have also tried the C.Atherley Geranium No.4 Facial Oil: nourishing, not too heavy, and with a blissfully soothing scent that just takes the tempo down perfectly, before bedtime. Really rather reasonably priced, for a facial oil, too.
While we wait for our over-wintered scented geranium plants to show signs of life, these are a huge consolation!
