Beauty Bible Loves… Noble Isle The Greenhouse 'Sussex Country Garden' collection

There’s something truly evocative about greenhouses. Many of us have childhood recollections of spending time in one, being encouraged to rub leaves of tomatoes or scented geraniums, of plunging a trowel into a pot to help a grandparent, or simply playing with a hose and getting everything (including ourselves) soaking wet.

Jo’s first memory – life memory, not just her ‘scent memory’ – is of being in a greenhouse with her grandma. And today, her Alitex greenhouse is very much her ‘happy place’.

Well, that damp scent of greenery, flowers, lushness is not only pure nostalgia – but also, this summer, it’s bang on trend. And we are absolutely loving this collaboration between British home fragrance and bodycare brand Noble Isle and Gravetye Manor, the stunning hotel and restaurant in East Sussex, famed for food that comes fresh from the kitchen garden.

They invite us to ‘slide open the door to refreshing notes and green aromas’ – which means cucumber, mint, citrus, melon and an extract of Sungold Tomatoes. But because nobody wants to smell exactly like a veg patch, there are some floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle scampering through the scent, along with notes of bergamot and jasmine.

There are quite a few options – we’re particularly loving the Single Wick Candle, but also the The Greenhouse Hand Wash and Hand Lotion. Also on the menu: a Bath & Shower Gel, and Body Lotion.

 Personally, we can think of almost nowhere we’d rather be than a greenhouse, on a golden midsummer’s evening, or up first thing, pottering while listening to the birds. But almost the next best thing? Bringing the greenhouse into the home, with this gorgeous collection.
