Beauty Bible Loves... M.A.C. Prep & Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base

Don’t know about you, but the heat and humidity has played havoc with any eye make-up we’ve been wearing. Mid-afternoon, we’d glance in the mirror and spot our eyeliner heading for our cheekbones, with any hint of eyeshadow migrated to the crease of the eyes.

We used to rely on a completely brilliant eye primer by Kat Von D for making eye make-up budge-proof, but sadly that was discontinued some years ago. However, a little in-store investigation at Selfridges, quizzing various consultants, produced this. And now we will never, ever go through summer without it.

A dab of silicone-rich M.A.C. Prep & Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base, smoothed into lids over eye cream, creates a slightly ‘grippy’ foundation for eye make-up. It’s still easy to blend any shadow – but it truly goes the distance, when applied over this. Ditto: eyeliner can remain a crisp line, OR be blended out with a sponge or brush tip – but it only smudges to the level you’d like it to, rather than melting half-way down the cheek.

A tiny tube of magic which is used so lightly that we reckon it’ll get us through quite a few smudge-proofed summers to come.
