Lisa Eldridge Lip Gloss

We were stomping our feet and clapping our hands when the lovely Lisa Eldridge (below) was recently awarded the Lifetime Achiever Award in the CEW (UK) Awards, the beauty industry’s Big Night Out. She made some funny jokes about the fact it made her feel like a granny to receive a ‘Lifetime’ award, but honestly, nobody deserves it better.

You might have watched the very UN-granny-ish Lisa’s videos; her YouTube channel – here – is one of the most widely watched make-up channels in the world.

You might have read her book, Facepaint: The Story of Makeup – which is utterly brilliant (find it here), a fab hardback all about the history of make-up, which she’s always been fascinated by, a passion which also inspired her TV series for BBC Two, ‘Make-up: A Glamorous History’, which you can watch here.

If you’re lucky, you might have been to her House of Eldridge Pop Up Studio in Covent Garden, at Royal Opera House Arcade, where you can swoon over many items from Lisa’s own incredible make-up collection, while trying out her foundation and lip creations. Actually, we had a bit of a ‘beauty shopping accident’ ourselves, and don’t regret a minute of it – not least because we discovered the greatest lip gloss we’ve EVER worn.

It’s not sticky; actually, it feels really moisturising on the lips and we’ve been known to apply it simply because our lips are feeling winter-dry, immediately easing the tightness with the blend of sunflower seed oil, açai berry oil, vitamin E and mango seed butter.

Secondly, it’s PACKED with pigment, so even when the gloss has been dialled down a little as the day wears on, lips still have some colour.

Thirdly: the shades are DIVINE! Divine, divine, divine. Jo was seduced by a classic, ‘universal’ red, which looks super-glam, whatever your skintone (NB Lisa’s site features photos of different people wearing the gloss, so you can get an idea how it might look on your lips). But she’s heading back for the cranberry-ish Myth shade, when next in the area.

We’d give her a gong for the lip gloss alone – never mind all Lisa’s other accolades.
