Every so often, a product crosses our desk that is something we’ve never seen before. KILLABRUSH is it: brush created with hair health (we like that) in mind.
Actually, KILLABRUSH takes a fresh approach to one of the most-used – but probably least-considered – tools in our beauty routines. Billed as the world’s first ‘active antimicrobial hairbrush’, it is designed not only to detangle and style hair gently, but also to help address the build-up that can collect on a brush between washes.
Its key innovation is something called BioBristle™ technology: active antimicrobial protection integrated into the bristle material during manufacture, rather than simply applied as a surface coating. The brand says this enables the brush to continuously defend against up to 99.9% of bacterial and fungal build-up throughout its working life.
What does that mean, in real llife? In practical terms, it makes KILLABRUSH a nicely reassuring choice for anyone mindful of keeping the tools that touch their hair and scalp as clean as possible – particularly when brushes are used daily, packed for travel or shared within a household.
Did we mention that it’s also GREAT for actually brushing? (Rather important1) The flexible bristles glide through knots rather than snag, minimising the pulling and breakage that can make brushing feel like a battle – particularly on fine, coloured, fragile or long hair. At the same time, the cushioned base somehow feels like it ‘gives’ a little as you work, adapting to the contours of the scalp (for a gentler experience), while delivering a really rather pleasantly stimulating scalp massage.
There’s a choice of shades, from baby pink to black via peach – and a choice between paddle and vented designs. The paddle brush is the all-round smoothing hero: excellent for detangling and for creating sleek, polished lengths, especially on dry hair. The vented version, meanwhile, allows warm air to circulate more freely during blow-drying, helping speed up styling while encouraging lift and movement at the roots. Importantly, this brush actually goes beautifully through Jo’s hair, which is almost entirely resistant to paddle-style brushes – these usually skate over her barnet completely, without picking up so much as a single hair!
It’s properly versatile: use it to distribute conditioner through wet hair, tame a morning mane, refresh a blow-dry or gently brush through curls before putting hair up.
