Beauty Bible Loves... Joonbyrd Just Peachy kit
A couple of weeks back, against stiff competition, Joonbyrd won Best British Brand in the CEW UK (Cosmetic Executive Women) Awards. What a moment for this beauty brand, which brings a real skincare approach to bodycare – something we’ve been bleating on about for decades, to a nation which has mostly ignored anything that happens below vest-level, at least until fairly recently.
So, what we love about Joonbyrd is its playfulness. Look at this kit – and how gorgeous is it? – but it’s deceptive. You see something that’s fun, summery, probably fragrant (Joonbyrd are big on gorgeous scents, many with a gourmand twist). But behind these formulations is proper skin science. Founder Dr. Alexis Granite is a consultant dermatologist with 20 years’ of clinical experience, but who wanted to introduce a sense of joy and sensoriality to effective body care rituals. (And we absolutely think that bodycare has to be joyful, to nudge people into making it a habit.)
They describe skin as ‘an emotional organ’ – and gosh, that resonates. As Joonbyrd put it, ‘We believe body care is self-care, a means to connect and to reset.’ Couldn’t put it better ourselves. (In fact, it echoes almost exactly the words we used in our just-submitted Beauty Bible book manuscript, more on which anon.)

Oh, and one final joy, before we go? Joonbyrd’s name references Dr. Granite’s Persian heritage, since ‘Joon’ translates as soul, spirit and life, in Persian.
