Foundation season is almost upon us. (And we feel a little sad about that, after a too-short summer.) But you know what? This might honestly mean you can choose something a little lighter, this season.
Brilliantly concealing, however, with a natural-looking finish that’s matte but absolutely not flat, we’re finding it ideal for this time of year – when we want to dial down the glow but aren’t ready for full-on ‘velvet’, yet.
In fact, we’re finding iT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Natural Matte perfect hybrid skincare/make-up product – nearly a foundation, more than a primer, giving great, smooth coverage that is buildable (if you really find you need it, which you may not). An SPF40 offers protection – but what we would say (and always do) is: you shouldn’t be slathering this on like a mask, so think of it rather as extra protection, rather than all you need. It’s antioxidant and moisturising, via hyaluronic acid (perfectly comfy on our drier faces, thanks) – but it will also tackle shine, on oilier skins, via colloidal clay and (yes) charcoal. (Don’t ask us how they make that invisible, but you definitely can’t see this.)
The real advance in CC creams, meanwhile, is the vastly improved selection of shades, at least from brands like IT Cosmetics. Previously a one- or two-shades-fit-all product, their range spans an impressive 30 shades – literally from lightest to deepest.
