Guerlain L'Essential Pore Minimizer Shine-Control Primer

Maybe it’s an age thing. Maybe it is that primers are just getting more sophisticated, but we find ourselves drawn more and more to primer usage, especially for busy days when we want our make-up to go the distance.

Don’t be put off by the green shade of Guerlain L'Essential Pore Minimizer Shine-Control Primer. Unlike the Daniel Sandler primer which we wrote about here, it’s not going to take down your redness – but with 97% naturally-derived ingredients (and isn’t that quite a direction for a brand like Guerlain to be moving in?), it is going to smooth your skin and mattify it – not flat-flat, but just not so shiny.

To which end we find it works really well – no surprises here – with Guerlain L’Essentiel foundation, which has become a bit of a favourite with Beauty Bible since it launched last year. There’s a wonderful radiance to this foundation – makes skin look lit from within – but this takes down any over-dewiness (there, we just invented a word), making skin appear velvety.

Active naturals include avocado extract (to control excess sebum), yacon juice to strengthen the skin’s barrier, and white cocoa beans, to help refine pores.

Good for oily skins, for sure – but our dry ones are super-happy with it, too.

FYI: Guerlain now have their own UK buying website, we found out when we were trying to track down a stockist for this…
