Garden of Wisdom C-Deep Vitamin C Serum

You know youโ€™re onto a winner when you start getting compliments on a product, right, left and centre.

Thatโ€™s what happened after we started using this new vitamin C-powered serum from Victoria Healthโ€™s own skincare line, Garden of Wisdom. (Affectionately known as โ€˜G.O.W.โ€™, and very well worth exploring for its powerful and effective mix-and-match products, at not-silly prices.)

Now, C-Deep is called a โ€˜serumโ€™ but this is actually more akin to a facial oil โ€“ so weโ€™ve been using it at night, on skin thatโ€™s seen a bit more sun than it usually does in our ongoing quest to get plenty of vitamin D; there MIGHT have been a bit of collateral skin damage, as a result.

A couple of nights with this layered under night cream, and the difference was already obvious โ€“ much, much brighter skin. By the end of a week, skin seemed evened out a bit (even though thatโ€™s a bit sooner than weโ€™d normally expect with any product).

Most vitamin C serums are based on L-Ascorbic Acid, which is water-soluble, and can be somewhat unstable. But in this case, the vitamin C derivative is Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, which VH tell us โ€˜has been modified to be soluble in oil or lipids and enters the skin faster and deeper than any other form of vitamin C.โ€ Which maybe explains those speedy results.

The power vitamin is suspended in squalane, which has a light oil texture โ€“ and once youโ€™ve got your head around the fact it behaves like an oil, itโ€™s nothing but a pleasure to use โ€“ no discernible scent, but feels nourishing in its own right.

Regime-wise, itโ€™s joined our skincare line-up โ€“ definitely a keeper.
