Beauty Bible Loves... PERS Triple Exfoliant
The autumn ‘dinge’ is just beginning to kick in. You know, that slightly tired-skin look, last traces of summer glow fading… maybe a touch of dryness, because – well, don’t know about you, but we’ve had to have the central heating on for the last couple of days.
Well, PERS Triple Exfoliant is a dinge-busting multi-tasker that restores skin’s radiance in a gentle, effective way, from PERS, a Paris-based, dermatologist-founded skincare brand that we’ve raved about before on here. They don’t (hallelujah) believe in over-complicating a regime, but an exfoliator was most definitely missing from the line-up.
In fact, before we continue with our product review, we want to flag up that there is a great opportunity to discover and explore the whole PERS range in a ‘Meet the Founder’ event at The French Pharmacy, in London’s Marylebone, with the brand’s Magali Calmon in residence from 2 - 6.30 p.m. It’s a drop-in and completely free to attend – but it’d be great to register your interest via Eventbrite, here.
So, back to the PERS Triple Exfoliant. This has what’s described as a ‘triple’ action, because there are three different ways in which this works to brighten. First, super-fine perlite particles, which feel totally non-scratchy. Second, 5% fruit AHAs and 5% glycolic acid, which even our sometimes-touchy skins have been unfazed by. And thirdly, a fungal-derived enzyme helps to loosen the dead skin cells, complementing the exfoliating acids and those fine mineral polishing particles. (If ‘fungal-derived’ sounds ‘eeew’… get over it! You eat mushrooms, don’t you?)
PERS Triple Exfoliant can either be used as a gentle scrub – an oh-so-gentle scrub – or as a mask, left on for 5-10 minutes. We’ve tried it both ways, and while we feel there’s just as much of an effect from the quicker technique, isn’t it always nice to be told to relax for 10 minutes while a mask gets to work…?
So, we are anticipating this becoming a weekly ritual for brightness maintenance. (Something we’ll look forward to, not least because of the fragrance of this product – the same ‘Mummy’s handbag’, slight powderiness that is the signature of the rest of the range.) While it’s definitely not cheap, meanwhile, a little really does go a long way – not much more than a couple of pea-sized squeezes are required.
Our one piece of advice? Rinse well. Those exfoliating particles can be quite tenacious, so splashing generously with water is absolutely the best way to remove the mask – and that dinge, with it.
