Farm Soap Co. soaps

Ooooh, we thought, as we scrolled through Instagram. (That’s still sometimes how we find out about things, the efforts of PRs notwithstanding.) Those soaps look gorgeous!

And then as we dug a little deeper, we realised why: the Farm Soap Co. has been founded by Silvana de Soissons, who we’ve known and admired for years. and who is formerly own and proprietess of The Foodie Bugle (a divine but now-extinct deli in Bath). She’s an expert on natural home cleaning – and happens to have a great eye, hence the fab packaging.

Soap, of course, is in the ascendancy – and we’ve never got through more of the stuff. So here’s the low-down on this: it’s hand-made, vegan and produced in small batches on a Dorset farm, with ‘no chemicals, no palm oils, no animal testing and no synthetic fragrances - just gentle, cleansing and moisturising soaps made by hand.;

‘In autumn and winter,’ Farm Soap Co. explain, ‘we use plants from warmer climes for essential oils. In the spring and summer we grow and distill skincare herbs and flowers from the organic walled gardens at Deans Court in Wimborne. Dorset Sea Salt and seaweeds are sourced from the shores of the Jurassic Coast.’ They promise: ‘We will be adding lots more products as the season progresses and our herb and flower garden plants are harvested, distilled and macerated.’ The existing line-up, though, is beautiful, with scents like Bergamot, Geranium, Siberian Pine, Clementine, Grapefruit, Lavender – plus Dorset Seal Salt Soap (which is naturally high in trace elements and minerals), and an Unscented soap.

You can also find soap dishes and some rather fab linen tote bags on the site. Farm Soap Co.’s journal is a lovely read, too, with natural home cleaning tips – and it even has a recipe for making soap. Although when it’s this lovely, we’re not sure why you’d bother…!
