Beauty Bible Loves... CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle Secret Look Pouch

We’ve declared this Female Beauty Founders Month on Beauty Bible – and really, is there a more successful female founder than Gabrielle Chanel? Her brand is a household name, around the world, and the envy of marketeers everywhere.

The recent retrospective of Chanel’s life at the V&A Museum really emphasised to us again how she wasn’t just a fashion pioneer, but set trends in beauty and fragrance, via so-chic Chanel No5, the refillable red lipsticks she marketed, products for tanning (because ‘nice’ ladies stayed lily-white, until Coco came along.)

For so many women we know (us included), this sure-footed brand still makes the heart beat a little faster, with every launch. And well, can you hear our pulse thud-thud-thudding from there…? Because just in time for Mothering Sunday – for those of a generous disposition and deep pockets, anyway – is this most gorgeous of gift sets: the Coco Mademoiselle Secret Look Pouch

Inside this beautifully-made, ribbon-tied pouch – fashioned from a lightly gold-shimmering fabric – are two zipped pockets. And inside those, you’ll find a 50ml of Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum, a nourishing Rouge Coco Baume in Dreamy White (actually a sheer lip balm), and Le Vernis in Ballerina, a classic nude. But the pouch itself is what got us really excited; we’ll be repurposing it for jewellery, when travelling (just the faux stuff – like Gabrielle Chanel herself, we’re fond of a bit of costume jewellery).

The CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle Secret Look Pouch is a limited edition, but a last-a-lifetime purchase. Again, we appreciate that this is beyond most budgets, but let’s take the opportunity in International Women’s Month to salute this female founder, nonetheless.

And swooning, happily, is free.

PS The camellias were part of the press kit that was gifted to us, and don’t come with the set. But you could try fashioning your own, from fluoro card and a pair of scissors! Bound to be a tutorial online somewhere…
