Beauty Hygiene Plus make-up tools sanitisers

True confessions time. When was the last time you sanitised your make-up kit…?

Days? Weeks? Months? Honestly, with the tricks time has played on us over the last year, you can be forgiven for not keeping track of this rather important but easy-to-overlook aspect of wearing make-up. (Which, let’s face it, is not always the sexiest bit, either.)

Enter an excellent, four-product range – Beauty Hygiene Plus – which sets out to make it all much, much easier. Now, we still don’t recommend sharing make-up. But we think you’lll want to know about this range of products, which is said to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses within two minutes of application. We all know the virus you’re probably thinking of, but there are other bugs which can lurk in brushes, too: herpes, E-coli, ringworm, conjunctivitis…

The creator, Antonia Hawke, has been offering hygiene products to the pro beauty market for a decade, but has now come up with a quartet of targeted products for the rest of us…

Quick Dry Brush Cleaning Spray/£12 for 100ml. The unique formula means that it’s strong enough to clean even dense and large-sized make-up brushes, which are prone to harbouring germs. Spritz directly onto brush from 20cm away, leave for two minutes and wipe excess product off with a product until brush is clean. Then simply leave to dry for two more mins.

Antibacterial Quick Dry Makeup Sanitising Mist/£12 for 100ml. Designed to be spritzed specifically onto palettes, creams, powders, lipsticks, pencils and gels.

Deep Cleanse Sponge & Brush Wash/£12 for 100ml. Does what it says. We certainly still advocate thorough washing of brushes, whenever possible using the time-honoured trick of sudsing with a gentle wash – and this is perfect – before leaving brushes with their handles on a towel, on a shelf, with their bristles protruding so that they can air-dry). This deep cleanses right up to the metal ferrule, where oils and germs hide.

Quick Dry Beauty Tools Sanitising Spray/£12 for 100ml. For swiftly sanitising tools mae from metal, glass, wood, plastic and rubber: apply to a clean cloth and wipe over the surfaces before spritzing the product and leaving for two minutes to dry.

There’s a great ‘starter kit’ for £20 featuring all four products in travel-friendly 50ml sizes. And if you’re still in any doubt, there’s a great feature on their website about make-up kits and the germs that lurk in them, here

In terms of brush-care, in the age of a pandemic, we think Beauty Hygiene are set to clean up. In every way.
