Launches from Aurelia London are all the more special for not happening every other day. (Fact: the beauty industry needs to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n, if it is to become more sustainable. Which is our dearest hope.) 

But these two were worth waiting for: a cleanser and a lush-textured cream-gel moisturiser, both tapping into the buzzy trend for CBD products, which use an isolate from cannabis that locks onto receptors in the skin responsible for inflammation, and essentially encourages them to chill out. (From a brand was also ahead of the curve with probiotic skincare, NB.)

First up, a cleanser that's quite different to anything we've tried before. It's named CBD Aqua-Oil Cleanse, a shake-before-use product that is mid-way between a micellar water and a skin essence. It's most definitely NOT a cleansing oil, which is sort of what we were expecting – but it very much magnetises dirt, grime and make-up, when swiped onto skin via a cotton pad.

Moisturiser-wise, there's Hydrate & Calm CBD Gel Cream, an excellent swift and effective skin drink with that luscious, distinctive, hear-your-skin-slurp-it-up cream-gel texture. The two antioxidant-powered products are targeted, we'd say, at normal or combination skins rather than the super-dry, we've nevertheless enjoyed road-testing them on our thirstier (and um, quite 'mature') complexions.
