What a relief, then, to find a Korean product that de-clutters your bathroom shelf/bedside table, rather than clutters it up. Wonderbalm really is a bit of a wonder. It’s not the first multi-tasking balm we’ve written about, and probably won’t be the last, but we’re enjoying finding more and more tasks that this glass pot of balm can perform. They claim ‘3-in-1’: eye pencil, eyeshadow and eyeliner. Certainly, it multi-tasks as a smooshable, so-easy eyeshadow, or a stronger pencil that can be used for defining. 3-in-1 Eyes Multitasker is self-sharpening, and the finish you get is all down to how hard you press – a little more force for eyelining, a lighter touch for shading. (Can be blended with fingers, or a synthetic eyeshadow brush.) It lasts well – they promise 12 hours and we wouldn’t contradict. And as the years have gone by, that’s grown into active dislike. (Jo literally feels panicky and on sensory overload in department stores, and avoids them wherever possible.) So Sephora’s Quiet Hours Pilot Project is music to our ears – only NOT. It began a couple of weeks ago, and will run till 26th July, in selected stores. If it’s a success, Sephora – the first beauty retailer to pilot this idea worldwide – should be extending the scheme. Home brow-dyeing is so easy that we’ve stuck with it ever since, Jo relying on a pack of Schwarzkopf dye (excellent stuff) which she’s eked out till right now. But it finally tinted its last, which meant a trip to Boots – and the acquisition of this relatively recent entry to the market: @lorealparis Brow Color Semi-Permanent Tint. Somewhat cynically, Jo first applied one coat – and it was dry within a few seconds. Cagily, a day later, she applied a second coat – and a glossy top coat soon, after – and again, completely rock solid in a couple of blinks of an eye. 🌟 Fab Find of the Week: @granado Exuberance Hand Cream Trio 🥰 Having a little sniff around Covent Garden – a lovely thing to do, on a sunny afternoon – we visited for the first time the new Granado boutique on (aptly enough) Floral Street. What a treat for the senses. If you don’t know them, Granado is a Brazilian brand which landed in the UK around three years ago, and has really made a colourful, fragrant splash in the world of fragrance and bodycare. There are now a couple of other Granado boutiques – at Ham Yard Hotel, and on Chelsea’s King’s Road – and they all offer the same immersive sensorial experience, alive with colour and scent. The products are good value – but we are especially taken right now with this Granado Exuberance Hand Cream Trio, featuring a really decent 50g (handbag-worthy) size of their luscious yet not greasy hand creams, in three different and exotic scents. In the frenzy about new start-up beauty brands, it can be easy to forget ‘the greats’. Working on our hush-hush new book project for next year, we’ve been looking back over 28 years of Beauty Bible, and been reminded of some truly great names. SUQQU is one of those greats. (Say it ‘Soo-koo’, BTW – and it means, ‘a woman rising to her full height…’) Not that SUQQU is ever really off our radar, actually, because you’ll find several of their products in our kit. The very definition of ‘modern luxury’, SUQQU’s textures are sublime and their shades so, so wearable. Because of this, many of the products have scooped Beauty Bible Awards, which for us is the ultimate test of brilliance.
