We have six fabulous sets to give away, with four products in each, created by this legendary make up artist

It’s playtime! You know how we’re all being urged to explore our inner artist during lockdown? That’s to help get over anxiety and have a bit of fun. Well, forget landscape or still life – what about starting with painting your face?

Much loved make up artist Ariane Poole, a longstanding friend of the Beauty Bible team, has a small but perfectly formed signature range of colour cosmetics (arianepoole.com). For this prize draw, Ariane has put together a fab little makeup kit – exclusively for Beauty Bible readers.

If you’d told us before we started playing with the products that we’d fall in love with a Glitter eye pencil in this year’s top tint of Pantone Blue, we’d have sort of snorted… ‘No! Never! Ever!’ But five minutes later, Sarah’s eyes were rimmed, right at the base of the lashes, with this surprisingly subtle shade of peacock. And it looked just lovely.

There’s no metal glitter in this soft Blue/Blue Glitter Eyeliner Pencil (usually £14), which is super-easy to stroke on. ‘It’s formulated with soothing ingredients including camomile, chickweed, cucumber and aloe extracts, so it’s gentle enough for the most sensitive eyes, and contact lens wearers,’ promises Ariane. Have fun being creative with using it in different ways – smudged all over your eyelid, or layered over eye shadow for a more metallic effect. (And it comes with a sharpener.)

While we’re on eyes, Ariane has included her Luxury Mascara in Black (£18), which is one of the best mascaras we’ve ever used (not something we say lightly). It adds length, volume and curl, without clumping or looking gluey or spiky. Part of the brilliance is the ergonomic brush, which is curved to the shape of your eye so you really can coat and separate each lash. The formula has strengthening ingredients plus conditioning sodium hyaluronate and vitamin E to keep lashes soft and supple. And you can build up the wow factor look for evening drama.

To go with this Mascara – or any other non-waterproof mascara – Ariane developed Lash Shield Waterproof Top Coat (£18.50), which seals your mascara or brow colour. So no panda eyes to paint over on rainy days or watching a weepy movie.

Thinking of camouflage, last but very much not least we have the Ariane Poole Concealer Palette, usually £23, which won a Beauty Bible Silver Award in February this year.  This sleek, mirrored black palette has three yellow-toned creamy concealers to custom blend, perfectly concealing blemishes, redness, veins, spot and dark circles. ‘A brilliant concealer that gives a very natural look; I was really impressed,’ reported one tester. ‘Gave very good coverage on age/brown spots and dark circles – as an eyeshadow base it looked natural but brighter,’ commented another. ‘Easy to have in your handbag to cover a multitude of purposes,’ summed up a third. There’s no brush included but you can use your fingers, which some testers liked for the warmth, or a sponge tip (Sarah’s choice), or blender brush.

Lastly, do have a look at Ariane’s video tutorials with step by step directions on a range of topics such as cover up makeup for redness and rosacea, how to apply foundation/primer, and day to night looks. And, of course follow her on instagram @arianepoole.cosmetics.
