Fab Find of the Week: Rouge G de Guerlain Stunning Gems
Weβve raved about these Rouge G de Guerlain refillable lipsticks on several occasions. (See here. And here.) And just try stopping us raving about them again, in future.
When they first landed on our desks, weβll admit that we thought: βJewelled lipstick cases? In the middle of a pandemic? Really?β But as the #lockdown has worn on, weβve found ourselves craving some glamour. And lipsticks donβt get more glamorous than this.
It is well known that during World War II, lipstick became hugely important to women β actually morale-boosting. (Entire treatises have been written about it.) And thatβs what these have done to us, as we fight a rather different kind of war.
The cases are gorgeous β and yes, we have faith that at some point we really will sit somewhere, in a restaurant, open the mirrored case and renew our lipstick. (NB As well as the faceted, jewel tones above, there are some diamantΓ© options β though we prefer these, like giant emeralds, rubies, tourmalines or sapphires.) We really do like the fact that you buy one case as a treasure, and can keep refilling it or switching up the lipstick inside.
The textures, gorgeous as ever β powered by hyaluronic acid and firming guggul oil (used in Ayurvedic medicine for 3000 years). Light-reflective pigments create a luminous finish, with βmulti-faceted diamond powderβ to refract light and create a soft-focus effect.
Fabulous shades β seven new sheer shine options (with a wonderful faceted βbulletβ to go with the faceted lipstick case), and seven mattes. (Joβs in love with 699, a shimmering cherry which is the closest sheβs found to a long-lost Guerlain lipstick love.)
And while we wait for our favourite dining destinations to reopen? Those Zoom calls just got a lot more glam, thanks to Rouge G.
