Fab Find of the Week: Rouge G de Guerlain Stunning Gems

Weโ€™ve raved about these Rouge G de Guerlain refillable lipsticks on several occasions. (See here. And here.) And just try stopping us raving about them again, in future.

When they first landed on our desks, weโ€™ll admit that we thought: โ€˜Jewelled lipstick cases? In the middle of a pandemic? Really?โ€™ But as the #lockdown has worn on, weโ€™ve found ourselves craving some glamour. And lipsticks donโ€™t get more glamorous than this.

It is well known that during World War II, lipstick became hugely important to women โ€“ actually morale-boosting. (Entire treatises have been written about it.) And thatโ€™s what these have done to us, as we fight a rather different kind of war.

The cases are gorgeous โ€“ and yes, we have faith that at some point we really will sit somewhere, in a restaurant, open the mirrored case and renew our lipstick. (NB As well as the faceted, jewel tones above, there are some diamantรฉ options โ€“ though we prefer these, like giant emeralds, rubies, tourmalines or sapphires.) We really do like the fact that you buy one case as a treasure, and can keep refilling it or switching up the lipstick inside.

The textures, gorgeous as ever โ€“ powered by hyaluronic acid and firming guggul oil (used in Ayurvedic medicine for 3000 years). Light-reflective pigments create a luminous finish, with โ€˜multi-faceted diamond powderโ€™ to refract light and create a soft-focus effect.

Fabulous shades โ€“ seven new sheer shine options (with a wonderful faceted โ€˜bulletโ€™ to go with the faceted lipstick case), and seven mattes. (Joโ€™s in love with 699, a shimmering cherry which is the closest sheโ€™s found to a long-lost Guerlain lipstick love.)

And while we wait for our favourite dining destinations to reopen? Those Zoom calls just got a lot more glam, thanks to Rouge G.
