Beauty Bible Loves... What's That Patch Sleep Deep Patches
Once upon a time, in the early days of our beauty editing careers, we were reliably informed (by dermatologists, no less) that the skin was ‘like a raincoat’, and nothing could be absorbed. Then we heard of friends being prescribed HRT gels, to deliver a perfect daily dose via this so-called ‘raincoat’… and it became clear that actually, the skin is absolutely a two-way street.
As if we needed more proof, What's That Patch Sleep Deep Patches are it. TBH, we didn’t have the highest hopes of them: little blue discs, to be applied to skin before bedtime to deliver a sleep-beckoning cargo of ingredients including honokiol from magnolia bark extract, apigenin, oleamide, palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), magnesium bisglycinate, all of which have been chosen to support relaxation.
But then, first night: a great night’s sleep (despite the heat). Second night, same. Third night… and so it went on. They really have deepened sleep (for Jo, who has been putting them through their paces), without the zonked effect that she would get from equally reliable melatonin, which was for a long time her go-to for better sleep. (Snuck back from the States, where it’s readily available.) They seem to have slightly reduced night-time trips to the loo, because she’s more deeply asleep for longer.
Also… they make a change from taking yet another pill. (We take a lot of supplements and it does sometimes feel as if we rattle.) Jo has found these most effective when applied to the inner elbow crease, or on the inner wrist.
Sleeping is believing, we reckon.
