We're all set to celebrate Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week - are you...?

We are fully paid-up members of the organic beauty ‘club’ (or we would be if such a thing existed). It’s a decade and a half since we published The Green Beauty Bible, and since then, we’ve seen interest in natural and organic skincare really boom.

On Monday, The Soil Association Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week kicks off: a week-long focus for beauty-lovers and those in search of holistic wellbeing. Make a note in your diary, because here’s what you can look forward to…

Watch The Soil Association’s webinar recording, which included an expert panel of organic gardener Tanya Anderson talking about the importance of the soil and biodiversity and what you can do to help this in your own gardens or balconies, and our beauty editor colleague Susannah Taylor talking about the importance of buying beauty.

Shop for trul sustainable beauty: unfortunately, because organic beauty isn’t enshrined in law, brands can get away with a lot of greenwashing, getting away with calling a product ‘organic’ when it has just 1% organic ingredients. So we point you in the direction of this comprehensive list of Soil Association-certified beauty brands, here.

Support The Soil Association! Are you a member? If not, do consider joining this charity, which we know from personal experience works so, so hard – on the land working with farmers; on the streets campaigning with communities; in schools and hospitals improving the food on the menu; and in Parliament lobbying government for a healthier food and farming future. Join here.

And do follow the call to action… Organic farms provide homes for wildlife such as bees, birds, and butterflies as they are free from harmful pesticides, synthetic fertilisers and GM crops farming with and not against nature. They are home to 30% more species of wildlife on average and up to 75% more wild bees which are vital for pollinating our plants.

Certified organic beauty and wellbeing products promise:

• Sustainably sourced ingredients
• Supporting wildlife and biodiversity
• No controversial chemicals
• Minimal packaging with maximum recycled content
• No synthetic colours, dyes or fragrances
• NEVER tested on animals

If you haven’t yet explored the amazing organic beauty and wellbeing products now on the market, next week is a great moment to start. (Or we say: why not Just. Do. It. Now…?
