Isn’t this just the best treat ever?! A fabulous £100 to spend just as you like at a brand that has warmed our hearts since mother and daughter founders Margaret and Abi Weeds launched in 2003. In fact, Margaret started work on it back in the 90s, using her qualifications in herbal medicine and aromatherapy to ‘tinker with skin-friendly concoctions’ that would calm and care for the whole family’s eczema-prone skin.
In those early days, the range was called Essential Care and it walked off with multiple Awards for certified organic skin and hair care also the world’s first Fairtrade make-up. But, as Abi (now running the business) says, the name ‘wasn't really rocking our world’ so it was re-christened Odylique – say it ‘Oh-dih-leek’ - from a French phrase meaning ‘power of nature’.
Odylique is truly natural, with every single one of the products handmade amid the rolling fields of their home in Suffolk – and powerful. Ingredients are all used in therapeutic concentrations with no synthetic chemicals – or potential allergens like wheat, lanolin or dairy and soya derivatives.
The lovely treat about this prize is that you can choose whatever you like! What would we choose…? Wellll - we’d definitely start with one of the new foundations: either the Cream Foundation, silky smooth and water-free to give ultra-nourishing coverage for our dry, sensitive complexions; great for soothing problem skins too, with chamomile extract, karanja oil and zinc oxide. That comes in a fab range of 12 colours from very fair to dark.
On at home days, we’d go for the lighter weight Natural Foundation, also unscented and of course vegan, based on organic aloe juice and offering plant collagen to plump skin. Again, this comes in 12 shades, based on ethically sourced, 100% pure mineral colour. Both fantastic value.
Can’t leave the make-up section without an Organic Mineral Lipstick; Cherry Tart is in our make-up bags already but we’re tempted by corally Apricot Sorbet. And don’t forget The Essential Eye Duo, in brown or black, with organic smudge-resistant, conditioning mascara and eyeliner.
