Move. Restore. Feel Human Again: Touch for Cancer's upcoming retreat
Move. Restore. Feel Human Again is a pioneering new wellbeing retreat for those living with or beyond cancer, has announced its expert-led programme. Designed to address the physical and emotional disconnection many experience after diagnosis and treatment, the retreat is built around four key pillars: movement, touch, nutrition and mindfulness.
This retreat isn’t cheap – it’s over £1,000 for the five days – but guests can expect a thoughtfully curated schedule of expert-led sessions, alongside nourishing food, time to rest, and opportunities for meaningful connection. Taking place at Carden Park’s award-winning spa in September 2026, this five-day retreat – created by Touch for Cancer in collaboration with CanRehab Trust – is the first of its kind in the UK, and we wanted to share info about it with our readers, who may be affected by cancer or have friends or family on this particular rollercoaster journey.
Until a few years ago, it was nigh on impossible for cancer patients to access spa therapies or even some beauty treatments. Then our friend Sue Harmsworth MBE founded Touch for Cancer, which has pretty much revolutionised that. Here she has joined with Professor Anna Campbell MBE (CanRehab Trust) to ensure that every element of the retreat has been carefully adapted to feel inclusive, supportive and achievable – regardless of where participants are in their cancer journey.
Touch therapies play a central role. Research suggests specialist massage may help reduce pain, fatigue and anxiety, while offering comfort and reconnection. Treatments will be delivered by therapists trained in Touch for Cancer techniques, to make sure every session is tailored to individual needs.
Movement is another cornerstone, again with evidence showing that gentle, adapted exercise can significantly improve energy levels and quality of life. Sessions range from restorative stretching to more dynamic options, always optional and designed to help participants rebuild confidence at their own pace. Also joining the line-up is Marian Hook, skincare expert and Functional Medicine Health Coach, who brings nearly four decades of experience in therapeutic, cancer-adapted treatments.
Above all, this retreat offers something that is much needed by many who are being treated for or living with cancer: a safe, expert space to reconnect with mind, body and self.
Move. Restore. Feel Human Again takes place from 1st to 5th September 2026. Prices start from £1,084 per person for shared accommodation, or £1,619 for single occupancy. The price includes all meals, workshops, leisure facilities and a Touch for Cancer massage.
