2020: it's all about transparency...

More beauty-hounds than ever want to understand whatโ€™s in the products we put on our faces, bodies and hair. What are they? Where do they come from? Are there any risks attached?

Finding this out has often meant visiting several different websites while chewing your pencil over a product purchase decision. But we thought weโ€™d share the news with you that Feelunique, the online beauty retailer, has teamed up with EVRELAB, Europeโ€™s first transparency technology platform in skincare and cosmetics ingredients, to launch Beauty Decoded by Feelunique.

As they tell us: โ€˜Beauty Decoded will aim to analyse each productโ€™s full ingredients list and simplify the complexity of ingredients data with its benefits and functionalities, backed up by scientific evidence and research.โ€™ (Thereโ€™ll be a plain English explanation as well as a scientific summary.)

Itโ€™s a huge challenge, starting with (gulp) 5,325 ingredients, with a section on โ€˜Sustainable Switchesโ€™ with clear definitions of the terminology behind natural, clean, certified organic and fair trade.

And even if itโ€™s only a tiny percentage of cosmetics customers who want this kind of in-depth info, this is a very interesting development indeed.
