It's Refugee Week – and we support Lush's 'Refugees Welcome' campaign

We love it when brands set out to support grittier causes – in this case, joining in the actions of Refugee Week, by teaming up with Refugee Action to welcome refugees and asylum seekers to the UK, and campaign to counter the government’s anti-refugee legislation.

Nobody leaves their homeland and leaves loved ones behind except in the direst of circumstances – but still, it’s a subject that makes some people uncomfortable, or gets them heated, and we think it’s great to that a global brand like Lush is never shy of tackling tough challenges head-on. The campaign runs till 28th June, and ‘aims to build compassion and empathy for refugees and people seeking asylum.’

And we love that all 103 UK stores currently have windows featuring a lightbox message that reads, ‘Wherever you’re from, however you got here, all refugees are welcome’ – and as Lush explain to us, the message is ‘in Albanian, Arabic, Dari & Farsi, Kurdish, Spanish, Tigrinya, Pashto, Ukrainian and Burmese to represent languages from the countries where most refugees arriving in the UK are from.’

And all you have to do to support them is… buy a bath bomb. Well, buy a bath bomb and then USE it; once it’s fizzed its last, it’ll release a piece of paper emblazoned with the QR code that takes you to the campaigns page on Refugee Action’s website, where you can find out more.

It’s designed in Refugee Action’s signature green and blue, embossed with the word ‘Welcome’. And the Welcome Bath Bomb doesn’t just do good – it smells good, zesty with lemongrass and bergamot. We’ve always believed that a bath makes the world feel a better place. Now it can help to create that…
